    _______

This is a really special item that I have been very excited to share with you all! Just like the Side Marker Lights being inspired by newer model Porsche 911's, this Wood Shift Knob is inspired by my one of my all-time favorite racecars, the monstrous Porsche 917 from the Le Mans series in the early 1970's. Early versions started with nearly 500hp, and the run ended with variants exceeding 1,500hp! Power wasn't everything however, these racecars weighed under 1,900lbs thanks to tub-frame chassis, lightweight body panels, and among many other components to cut weight, you guessed it...a lightweight wood shift knob! The wood knob also served to insulate the driver's hand from the insanely hot transmission during a race; a metal knob would burn through the gloves let alone leaving a stamp on your palm. Porsche brought this style back as a homage piece in the 04-06 Carrera GT, which is my personal favorite car of all time!

Weighing in at 60 grams, these wood shift knobs are handcrafted by a fellow 10th Gen Civic owner and Porsche enthusiast, Grotto Engineering. As soon as I saw the shift knob I knew I NEEDED IT! Each shift knob is handcrafted by Frank @ Grotto Engineering, with stacked layers of Cherry and Mahogany wood, etched on top is Honda's 6MT shift pattern. You can choose the predominantly Maple version (Lighter), or predominantly Cherry version (Darker). Included in the knob will be an aluminum M10x1.5 Threaded Insert, correct thread size for all 10th Gen Civic Manual Transmission models.

The OEM Shift Boot Collar for the Si, and Type R will work with this shift knob, OEM Shift Boot Collar for the Hatch will NOT work. We recommend the ACUiTY Shift Knob Collar, it goes perfect with the knob! You can also try out the look without a shift boot, it's not to everyone's liking (or convenient if something drops in) but it looks cool!

To appreciate this knob fully you should know and love it's history; it's purposely different to the rest of our popular weighted shift knob offerings because it's more of a passion project, and motorsports-inspired art piece. Weighted shift knobs make it easier to row gears as they provide leverage at the top of the shift lever, whereas lightweight shift knobs as this one is requires you as the driver to put in more effort but provides greater feedback in return. Here are some of the best Porsche 917 pictures & videos!

      Great shift knob

Amazing shift knob, but the day after installing it. As my car was sitting in the summer sun, the shift knobs lacquer or whatever they put over it, bubbled. Going to be sanding it down to just wood finish as that is what I was expecting. Just be careful on leaving it in direct sun.

Hey Arthur, that's really odd - I will reach out to you now for more details, and take care of it for you. The one in my CTR has been on for months without any blemishes so let me see what happened here. Thanks for voicing your concern!

      Perfect

It looks awesome, feels great, and will only get better with time. Hard to describe how good the wood feels vs metals or synthetic knobs. I was going to remove the boot and leave it open, but during the taking apart of the console I lost a trim tool within 15 seconds
