The factory 1.5T intercooler was designed to support ~200 hp — push beyond that and it quickly becomes a bottleneck in flow and heat dissipation. The 27WON FMIC Kit was developed after extensive research into the OEM system, with improvements made at every stage: from the aluminum cast end tanks with integrated airfoils to the 4-ply wire-reinforced silicone couplers.
Core height increased 41% (4.37" → 6.50"), thickness increased 47% (2.52" → 3.70"), for a total core volume increase of 120%. Results on a W1-equipped 2018 Si: +20 whp / +25 wtq drop-in with no tuning, and an additional +15 whp with an optimized tune.
Piping uses a 2.25" hot-side pipe (supports 500+ whp, improves response) and a 2.75" cold-side pipe (creates a large plenum ahead of the throttle body to reduce lag). Single pipe inlet and outlet minimizes coupler count and boost leak risk. Cold-side pipe includes a 1/8-27 NPT port for methanol auxiliary cooling/fueling.
