_______
The R660 RED was built around one goal: a robust, reliable turbo that doesn't sacrifice longevity for power. Squeezing more than 400hp out of the factory TD04-format turbo is possible but hard to do reliably — that small size just wasn't built for it long-term. RV6 solved that by over-building around a TD05 bearing housing, roughly twice the size of the TD04, allowing a full-sized 8mm ceramic ball bearing for quick spool and higher thrust load capacity. Oversized coolant passages and -10AN coolant lines keep everything running cool under sustained load.
The larger TD05 housing also allowed a 0.81 A/R turbine housing, significantly cutting back pressure between the turbo and engine — solving a lot of the boost instability and overheating issues smaller turbos run into. The compressor wheel is a lightweight, FEA-optimized point-milled forged billet design. Where most OE-spec turbos use Inconel turbine wheels and shafts, RV6 went further with a MAR-M super alloy turbine wheel and shaft, built to tolerate higher temperatures and loads than Inconel for genuinely harsh use.
