The Competition Clutch Stage 2 Kit with 17lb ultra-lightweight single mass flywheel is the more aggressive of the two Competition Clutch options — shaving 15 lbs from the factory dual mass unit (which weighs over 32 lbs on the 1.5T and Si). The dramatic weight reduction nearly eliminates rev-hang and makes the engine feel significantly more responsive between shifts.

The trade-off vs. the 22lb option: the 17lb flywheel requires more attention with clutch and throttle balance in 1st gear and reverse — be lazy and you'll stall. For drivers who spend time on track or want the sharpest possible shift response, it's the right call. The stronger pressure plate and clutch disc hold up to 425 ft/lbs of torque, suitable for any FBO or larger turbo build on a stock engine. Pedal feel is stiff during the first 500-mile break-in, then settles to a Type R-like weight.
