The 1.5T in these platforms is genuinely prone to heat soak on the factory intercooler, raising detonation risk and costing real power through elevated charge air and cylinder temps under spirited driving or added power. PRL's core is rated for 550+ horsepower (they've pushed 600+ in testing) at 26 x 4.5 x 5.9", using machined billet aluminum end tanks at the factory mounting points.

The charge pipe upgrade steps the cold-side piping up from the factory 1.25" to 2.5", with the hot-side outlet kept at factory diameter to aid turbo spool. The High Volume Intercooler Outlet eliminates the bottleneck where the factory intercooler meets the charge pipe, smoothing the transition into the larger charge pipe diameter, and includes a methanol injection bung positioned to give methanol enough time and space to properly atomize — useful for tuning, safety, and additional cooling.

PRL's own testing showed up to a 108°F drop in charge air temperature versus the factory intercooler, a 40% increase in cooling efficiency, and up to 9 whp gained on an otherwise stock vehicle — real numbers, not marketing estimates.
