At roughly 21.1 lbs versus the stock 24.6 lbs, that reduction in rotational and unsprung mass translates to quicker acceleration and sharper suspension response.

The hat is machined from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-spec aluminum, while the disc itself is Girodisc's proprietary cast iron, poured and machined start to finish in-house in the USA. A curved vane design pumps cooling air through the disc under rotation, and a floating mount system using 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins lets the rotor expand with heat while anti-noise spring washers eliminate the rattle typically associated with floating rotors — the float also lets the rotor self-center between the pads.
