Short ram intakes generally don't perform as well in very hot environments or stuck in traffic — a cold air intake handles that better. If you run this SRI now and later upgrade to 27WON's cold air intake, you get full credit toward that upgrade. SRIs do show hotter intake air temps than other options, though an efficient front-mount intercooler upgrade compensates for much of that.

The factory intake on the 11th-gen 1.5T is built for packaging and cost, not performance or looks. 27WON replaced the restrictive factory panel filter with a larger, less restrictive 4" dry-flow filter, swapped the OEM plastic MAF housing for a billet aluminum piece, and replaced the corrugated stock piping with smooth-transition 4-ply silicone — all designed to give air as straight a shot as possible into the turbo.
