Humza's 2025 Civic Type R - Unity Performance

Humza's 2025 Civic Type R

Humza's 2025 Civic Type R FL5

This isn't Unity's first FL5. A friend's CW car was loaned to the shop early on for product testing before it sold in 2024, and there's an ongoing "RR" FL5 build for another friend that's been showing up on our socials. This one, finally, is Humza's own.

The timing worked out in a funny way — Humza became a human dad and an FL5 dad within a couple weeks of each other, so car content went on pause for a bit right out of the gate. That timing set the tone for the whole build: this car has to split the difference between shop development platform, fun toy, and something the family can ride along in.

Compared to his FK8 — which ran Ohlins and pretty much every suspension part in RV6's catalog — Humza's deliberately kept this one more restrained. The plan has been OEM++: test upgrades one at a time, live with each change long enough to actually form an opinion on it, and share what's genuinely worth running versus what isn't.

Eleven-ish months in, that restraint has loosened up a bit. What started as subtle wheel and interior touches has grown into a full wrap, a one-off custom interior wheel, a wheel and tire upgrade, a genuinely game-changing active suspension controller, and — most recently — real turbo and induction hardware with dyno numbers to back it up.

TLDR: OEM++ turned into a proper build. Wrapped in KPMF Blue Black Iridescent, riding on an active damper controller most FL5/DE5 owners have never heard of, and now picking up real airflow and cooling upgrades as the power creeps up. Same as every Unity build — nothing goes on until it's been lived with and tested first.
