_______

The RV6® PCD Downpipe for the 2016+ Civic 2.0L was completely designed using Solidworks 3D modeling and our Romer CMM system for extremely precise measurements. The transition from engine to tube was designed using advance flow analysis for maximum flow characteristics. This transition was then made into a high strength 304 stainless precision casting. This allows for a very durable product with optimize turbulence free flow.

When Honda first introduced the integrated exhaust manifold maybe people were upset that conventional “headers” were now obsolete. This is especially true since the K-Series platform produced some very impressive performance gains with quality headers. When you look at the O.E precat, you can easily tell it was designed to be made cheaply and mass produced. The components are stamped and welded with no consideration for turbulence or restrictions. This combined the 2 catalytic cores causes the engine to be literally choked out of a good amount of power.

Sounds and performs great, but there may be some problems....

I'll preface this review by saying I fully expected everything that happened with my downpipe, it's simply the nature of purchasing aftermarket parts and throwing things at them that may not necessarily be the best idea.

In my case, I purchased this downpipe and months back and proceeded to get a tune from phearable that had a "pops and bangs" variation. The tune and the pipe functioned fine together as far as I could tell, but turns out the combination of the tune requiring e85 and the constant pops that would happen on downshift ended up melting the catalytic converter. The car slowly choked itself out throughout the following weeks and I finally noticed when my knock control values were spiking to 0.9 (normal values on the c2 are 0.49-0.69 for 93).

It took me a while to figure out what happened, but once I did, I contacted RV6 to let them know. It was somewhat a game of back and forth, RV6 blaming phearable (saying the welds were rated for up to 550whp - and mine is silver coated), phearable saying their tunes don't cause those issues. More than likely it was a combination problem of the welds melting on the catalytic converter and the pops and bangs only making the problem worse. I ended up getting a warranty from rv6, but they did charge me for the new pipe ($250). The new pipe ran perfectly with the pops and bangs tune and never gave me problems leading me to think it was a potential manufacturing issue.

All of that to say, the product is fantastic when it's working. Just that you'll likely throw a CEL (too rich after cat), and there's the chance that if your tune requires e85, that the pipe may fail. Only reason I give it 4/5 and not 5 is because of the hassle of getting it warrantied.

My experience with unity on the other hand was second to none, always great buying from here!
