Under hard braking, heat from the pads and rotors can transfer through the caliper pistons into the brake fluid, causing it to boil and resulting in a soft or lost pedal. Racing calipers address this with titanium pistons due to titanium’s extremely low thermal conductivity.

Girodisc Titanium Brake Pad Shims place a thin titanium barrier between the pad and piston, significantly reducing heat transfer into the fluid. With far lower thermal conductivity than steel or aluminum, these shims help prevent brake fade during aggressive driving and track use.
